North Carolina School Receives $350,000 Gift

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of North Carolina at Wilmington has received a $350,000 gift from Charlotte-based supermarket chain Harris Teeter and the Dickson Foundation to support student health and wellness, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

The university says it plans to use the money to update and maintain equipment in its fitness center as well as to enhance exercise classes and other fitness-related programs.

UNC-Wilmington officials also said in a written statement that the school plans to dedicate a “Harris Teeter Fitness Center” in the student recreation center on campus. The dedication is scheduled for April 3.

The Dickson Foundation of Charlotte supports education, health care, religious and charitable organizations.
