Indiana Mayor Poses Fitness Challenge

CARMEL, IN -- The mayor of Carmel, IN, is challenging his city’s residents and employees to improve their fitness level and lead a healthier lifestyle. As part of the challenge, Clarian North Medical Center will sponsor health awareness seminars, and individuals will form teams and compete in a fitness challenge from Jan. 6 to April 28. By becoming a healthier city, Carmel, IN, could have an advantage over other cities, says Jim Brainard, mayor.

“When site selectors go to look for places to put companies, regional headquarters and corporate headquarters, they are looking at the cost of health insurance. If we are unhealthy as a region or as a state, that's going to impact our economic development,” he says in an article on Channel 8’s wishtv.com.
